I took pictures of the stuff I got from Katsucon and once I get through the painful process of getting the pictures through this buggy software, I'll put them up.

I am disappointed that, even though I ordered on Sunday, I have only received 2 out of about 10 manga I ordered. I hope the rest come Monday. So far I have volume #1 of Ghost in the Shell and Loveless. I should get the rest of the first series of Alita books later.

While I enjoyed Ghost in the Shell (GitS), I was a bit disappointed and actually found the anime a lot better, even accounting for the fact that this was written about 10 years before, lacking the modern knowledge of the internet. It seemed to have a confusing mix of serious and goofy stuff and I wish it'd just be more goofy if they were going that route.

It would be funny to see a goofy chibi Kusanagi in the anime, although the anime's seriousness precluded that. The ethics of the manga characters disturbed me--they freely committed murder out of revenge (which is wrong even if the guy is a terrorist), freely broke in everywhere without warrants and basically ignored all laws.

Random note: on one page, the protagonist is sneaking around a secured building and a security robot sees her and once it judges her to be harmful it goes "SQUEEEEEEEE." I kid you not. Who decides on this "sound effects" in comics? I can't figure them out most of the time.
